Raising Awareness Against the Wind Festival
The Against the Wind Festival is a week-long pro-peace event in Humboldt County, California. It includes lectures, films, music, theater and art. Its focus is raising awareness about nuclear armament and environmental degradation. The events are held at the Arcata Playhouse.
Among the many acts performing at the Against the Wind Festival are the Against the Wind tribute band, which formed in 2015. The band will be playing at the Fred Anderson Stage at the festival. Lead vocalist Kevin Reid will perform with the band, which draws heavily from the Seger catalog, which includes many classic hits recorded by Seger and his band, the Silver Bullet Band.
Volunteers are needed to assist with all the festival’s events. If you’d like to volunteer for any of these events, please contact Jack Irvine at 707-407-9667. In addition to volunteers, the festival also accepts donations of food and drink. The festival is free and open to the public, but donations are needed for the festival.
The festival will run for 17 days from 15 to 31 August. It will feature more than 330 screenings, including in-theatre events, online screenings, and audience engagement activities. In addition, the festival will feature five films chosen from Cannes: Crimes of the Future, a body horror thriller from David Cronenberg, EO, a Jury Prize-winning thriller from Jerzy Skolimowski, and Albert Serra’s Pacifiction, a drama about the Holocaust.
